SL Engineering

Engineering that's resolved before it's built.

Product and engineering design, technical documentation, and design-for-manufacture consulting — the thinking that has to be right before a single part gets cut.

SL Engineering works upstream of the workshop floor: turning a problem, a sketch, or a rough idea into engineering drawings, a feasible build plan, and documentation a manufacturer can actually work from — across industrial equipment, architectural and hospitality fixtures, and early-stage hardware products.

What we do

Five services, one job: make it buildable.

01

Product & Engineering Design

Concept development and mechanical design, worked through until a shape is also a function.

02

Engineering Drawings & Documentation

Fabrication-ready drawings, tolerances, and bills of materials that a workshop can quote and build from directly.

03

Feasibility Studies

An honest read on whether an idea is buildable, at what cost, and what the real technical risks are before money is committed.

04

Design for Manufacture (DFM)

Reworking a design against the realities of the process that will actually make it — CNC, sheet metal, casting, or print.

05

Technical Consulting

An outside engineering opinion on a stalled project, a failed part, or a decision between two ways of building the same thing.

Who we work with

Cross-sector by design.

Manufacturing & Industrial
Equipment, machinery and production-line parts.
Hospitality & Architectural
Custom fixtures and installations for venues and interiors.
Product & Hardware Startups
Early-stage teams taking a first product from idea to prototype.
General Engineering
Any technical problem that needs a rigorous, independent look.

How we work

Brief to handover.

01

Brief

Understanding the problem, the constraints, and what "done" actually needs to look like.

02

Concept

Working through the options and settling on a direction before detail design begins.

03

Engineering

Detailed mechanical design, checked against the process that will manufacture it.

04

Documentation

Drawings, tolerances and a bill of materials a workshop can quote and build from without guesswork.

05

Handover

A finished package, handed to the manufacturer of your choice — or to ours.

Why SL Engineering

Engineering judgement, not just drawings.

Anyone can draw a part. The harder job is knowing which decisions actually matter — where to spend tolerance, which process will make a design cheaper without making it worse, and when an idea needs to change rather than just be documented. That's the work SL Engineering does before a design ever reaches a workshop floor.
